Great Tips How to Prevent Weight Gain while on Vacation

Just because you are going away on vacation does not mean you need to gain weight. In most cases, people gain weight while away from home because they turn down their guard and overdo it: lots of food, little to no exercise. The truth is that is possible to keep your waistline safe when you are on vacation just by following a few simple steps.

Instructions
Difficulty: Moderate
Things You’ll Need:

* Workout clothes
* Comfortable shoes

Step 1:
Pack workout clothes. Sneakers, comfortable pants and a t-shirt are enough. Being more active will be easier if you have comfortable clothes with you. If at all possible, book a hotel with a fitness center or swimming pool. You don’t have to spend a lot of time exercising to ward off weight gain. Just walk instead of taking taxis and spend 30 minutes at the hotel’s fitness center before bed.

Step 2:
Eat several times a day. It is easy to skip meals when you are running around in tours or trying to make the most of your time in a single place. The result is that by the time you do sit down to eat, you are often starving and will most likely overeat. To avoid this, try planning your day so you have time for breaks and light meals along the way. Or bring small snacks (fruits, protein bars or trail mix) with you so you can eat on the go.

Step 3:
Go easy on alcohol. Most people overindulge on drinks while on vacation, which provides a lot of empty calories and often increases appetite. Alcohol also makes people less inhibited when it comes to food, so they are more likely to snack on heavy or fatty foods.

Step 4:
Drink lots of water to avoid dehydration and to prevent cravings and keep you feeling satisfied.

Tips & Warnings

* When planning for healthy going away, remember that your vacation starts at the airport. If you must wait for your plane, avoid airport food (which often packs lots of calories and is mostly restricted to fast food choices). Once on the plane, be careful with snacks and drinks (fruit juices also add a lot of unnecessary sugar and alcohol and may keep you awake, making you tired and hungry later on).
